Resumen

The excretion of radioactive technetium as a means of identifying retained antrum was investigated in 22 dogs. Preliminary experiments established that 30 minutes after injection of isotope, the concentration of radioactivity in the antrum was high enough to permit its reliable identification. Experiments were then performed in normal control animals and in dogs in which total or partial gastric resections were performed, retaining no cuff or 1 or 3 cm. cuffs of antrum with the duodenal stump. The technetium scan reliably identified retained antral cuffs as small as 1 cm.
