Resumen

The effect of titanium surface roughness on the response of MG63 osteoblasts to 1,25-(OH)2D3 was investigated. Titanium (Ti) discs of varying roughness were prepared from unalloyed grade 2 Ti. Mg-63 osteoblast-like cells were plated onto Ti disks or tissue culture polystyrene for controls, then 1,25-(OH)2D3 were added to the cultures for 24 hours. Surface roughness values were obtained using Taylor-Hobson Sutonic 3P profilometer. The enhance response of osteoblasts grown on the rougher surfaces with 1,25-(OH)2D3 stimulation supports the premise that osteoblast-like cells are more differentiated than those on smoother surfaces.
