Resumen

Cell and macronuclear volumes were measured continuously from division to division in individual Tetrahymena. To permit more accurate measurements, the cells were flattened to 8 μ in a simple culture chamber during growth and division. Volume growth curves of the cell and macronucleus follow linear courses throughout interphase but rise sharply during division. The data reaffirm the conclusion drawn from other studies that division to division cell growth is not autocatalytic.
