Resumen

Travelers' diarrhea, which is caused most commonly by bacteria, is the most common illness affecting people who travel to developing countries. The primary care provider should educate travelers about preventive measures against travelers' diarrhea as well as self-treatment. The choice of antibiotic depends on the age of the traveler, destination of travel, duration of travel, nature of travel, and the likely resistance pattern of the bacteria causing the travelers' diarrhea.
