Resumen
Anatomic restoration of the abdominal wall midline can improve functionality after a hernia repair. When the gap is too wide, a component separation of the lateral abdominal wall can help slide its components and achieve primary closure. Understanding of these procedures requires an intimate knowledge of the anatomy of the abdominal wall. A posterior component separation, also known as trasnversus abdominus release (TAR) offers the advantage of avoiding the creation of large cutaneous flaps. The present chapter describes a posterior component separation.
