Resumen

A series of diacrylate liquid crystal (LC) monomers which differed in n and R1 were synthesized. The LC phase transitions were measured and those found to form fluid, nematic liquid crystals between about 25 and 35 °C were prepared in sufficient quantities for further study. Monomers that were not nematic at room temperature were also prepared and used as blends in varying proportions with bis-GMA/TEGDMA. The LC-monomers and blends were used without filler to prepare the experimental compositions. Acrylate conversion and linear shrinkage were determined using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and ACTA linometer, respectively.
