The application of local, metastasis-directed therapies is becoming increasingly appealing, but controversies regarding patients most likely to benefit from these interventions remain. This chapter aims to evaluate the phenomenon of the oligometastatic state, rationales for utilizing local therapy (surgical and radiotherapeutic), as well as summarize the available evidence thereof. A discussion on interactions of local therapy with immunotherapy, ongoing clinical trials, and optimal patient selection is also conducted.",
