Resumen
To the Editor: The review of myocardial ischemia by Hillis and Braunwald1 points out that in the last 15 years, there has been no change in the mortality of myocardial infarcts associated with pump failure or in the frequency of chronic heart failure in patients who survive acute infarcts. The authors enthusiastically suggest that by therapeutically limiting the extent of myocardial necrosis after coronary occlusion, we may finally meet this medical challenge. I hope that future studies will be addressed not only to the question of what is the best way to keep infarctions as small as possible but also.
