Resumen
Twenty-two patients with anorexia nervosa were followed during 1 to 10 yr; 11 improved. Plasma T3 levels fell with weight loss. There were anomalies of cortisol secretion and urinary excretion. The daily output of 17 ketosteroids was diminished. Pituitary responses to LRH and TRH were qualitatively and quantitatively normal. Calorie and nitrogen balances were maintained with variable ingesta in relation to the adaptive lowering of basal oxygen consumption.
