Resumen

The biological reponse to poly(lactic acid), modified by radio frequency glow discharge (RFGD), was determined using two bone cell types which include a cell line and a primary culture. The poly[DL-lactide] (PDLLA) films were fabricated by direct casting of polymer-acetone solution over 1.5 cm diameter glass coveslips under clean conditions. The surfaces of the films were modified by means of O2 gas plasma in a RFGD chamber. These films were sterilized by ultraviolet (UV) radiation and stored under vacuum. The characterization of the effects of plasma treatment was done by measuring the surface wettability, adhesion tension of water and surface energy.
