Resumen

Experiments are described involving the reflected aortic pulse wave and the hemodynamic and histopathological effect of narrowing the canine aorta for six months on the infrarenal aorta and its major branches. In these animal model experiments, aortic hypoplasia was simulated by surgically narrowing the canine aorta just above the bifurcation. From the data obtained, forward and reflected aortic pressure wave forms were calculated. After six months, waveform studies at levels above and below the area of stenosis were conducted, and the animals sacrificed. Histological studies were performed on the aorta and iliac vessels.
