Resumen
We believe that diabetes in an older patient should be regarded as seriously as in a young person. The important first step toward the detection of diabetes in the elderly entails careful patient monitoring for the signs and symptoms of diabetes and periodic fasting plasma glucose measurements. Remember that the overweight individual is particularly at risk to develop diabetes. When found, it should be thoroughly evaluated and appropriately treated.
