Resumen
A test system of deprivation-induced fluid consumption in rats has been used to examine the effects of caffeine, cocaine, nicotine, and phencyclidine. None of the drugs stimulated the consummatory behavior of the animals, but all four caused dose-related decreases in water intake. The results support the lack of physical dependence liability for these agents in humans.
