Resumen
In view of hospital costs, 108 cone biopsies performed on 104 women from 1974 to 1978 at the Shands Teaching Hospital were analyzed retrospectively in order to determine if cone biopsy could be done as an outpatient surgical procedure. No contraindications were found in the majority of patients in eliminating overnight postoperative stay if there were no immediate complications at the time of operation or in the recovery room. Twenty-two subsequent outpatient conizations have confirmed these findings.
