Bladder cancer screening: An update on urine-based tumor markers

Robert S. Svatek, Yair Lotan

Producción científica: Articlerevisión exhaustiva

Resumen

Bladder cancer screening has the potential to improve survival in high-risk patients by detecting tumors early, resulting in better outcomes. While some urine-based bladder tumor markers have demonstrated an improvement in bladder cancer detection over cytology or hematuria testing, they need to be evaluated in the setting of screening. More research is required to assess the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of screening prior to widespread use.
