N1 - Funding Information: In 2020, the ST-AHEC received supplemental funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration to develop a COVID-19 ECHO project for CHWs. Project ECHO has been used by the ST-AHEC as a telementoring program for CHWs and is a promising approach to gain the full potential of CHWs in South Texas (Zapata et al., ). Project ECHO, which was developed at the University of New Mexico, uses didactic presentations and case-based learning to promote the sharing of knowledge and mentorship by clinical experts (Project ECHO, ). Moreover, Project ECHO, which uses a “hub” and “spoke” framework, allows for clinical experts located at academic hubs to be connected with several spoke sites using web-based video conferencing technology to transfer along medical knowledge and skills (Project ECHO, ). Each hub typically hosts a weekly 1 to 2-hour telementoring session that all interested spokes attend at the same time. During a telementoring session, the hub team presents a short, didactic presentation and a program participant presents a case about their client. The hub team also facilitates discussions about the submitted case and provides evidence-informed interdisciplinary recommendations that come from both hub and spoke participants. Funding Information: Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) Supplement #U77HP03049, Texas Department of State and Health and Human Services (DSHS) #CDC-RFA-0T21-2103.
