Abstract

Retention of a single digit presents a challenge for the clinician. This article illustrates the use of a toe ring to aid in the retention of a prosthetic toe. Adhesive is used on the tissue surface. The toe ring is used to enhance stability and retention. The toe ring is fit to the adjacent digit and transferred to the master cast. A wire is soldered to the ring and embedded in acrylic. The acrylic is then covered with Velcro® to enhance silicone retention. The waxup is completed, flasked, and processed. External colorants are then applied.
