Abstract

Induction of a midtrimester abortion with hypertonic urea in a 15-year-old patient with chronic membranous glomerulonephritis is described. Careful monitoring of excretory functions after urea injection revealed no potentially dangerous physiologic changes. Because of the relatively few complications of intra-ainniotic injection of hypertonic urea-induced mid trimester abortions, the feasibility of this method for high-risk pregnancies is discussed.
