Abstract

Abnormalities of calcium regulation and bone metabolism are common in patients with thyrotoxicosis, but their clinical expression is variable and often subtle. In this editorial review the authors will outline the abnormalities in mineral metabolism that have been described in clinical and experimental hyperthyroidism and the mechanisms which may be responsible for these abnormalities.
