Abstract

A new diterpene acid, lambertianic acid, has been isolated from the oleoresin of the sugar pine tree, Pinus lambertiana Dougl. The acid has been shown to have structure III making it the optical antipode of dianiellic acid. Spectra features of these two furanoditerpene acids are discussed.
