Abstract

Indications for spinal deformity surgery in the thoracic spine are similar to those in the cervical or lumbar spine. The major differences in the procedure include the special considerations needed to accommodate the anatomical variations in the orientation of the facet joints and pedicles, as well as the anterior approach to the spine, which involves surgery through the chest cavity.
