Abstract

Psychopathology, life-threatening behavior and suicide are influenced, in part, by the life events a person experiences. This chapter provides a broad overview of the relationship between life events and suicidal behavior, including key domains of life events, factors moderating the effects of life events, mechanisms by which life events might impart risk for suicidal behavior and clinical implications for minimizing this risk.
