Abstract

Electromagnetic (EM) simulation-driven design optimization of a special purpose volume array coil for MRI is presented. Full-wave EM simulations greatly facilitated the optimal placement of three different coil geometries on the volume array. Simulations further reduce design selection by revealing subtle variations in field homogeneity and intensities among candidate geometries.
