Abstract
A semen evaluation was conducted among impotent patients. Out of 74 patients, only 35 were able to collect semen by masturbation. After a week, only 18 out of 35 were able to collect sample. Of these, only three were able to repeat collection one week later. This is not included in this study. Sample I was inferior in quality to sample II. Semen volume tended to be larger in sample II than in sample I. There was an increase in total sperm count and percentage of sperm motility, which was statistically significant (P < 0.001). Liquefaction time had decreased in sample II (P < 0.001). The increase in sperm-count is equivalent to increased strength of stimuli on the epididymis and involvement of a greater length of the epididymis for better expulsion of the spermatozoa. The most probable explanation for the increase in the percentage of motility was the decrease in time of exposure to motility-inhibitory substances present in the epididymis.
