Abstract

Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a very common disorder, but it is still under-diagnosed by physicians. RLS interferes with the sleep and quality of life. It has been associated with the use of neuroleptics by patients with movement disorders, suggesting a role of the dopaminergic system in the pathogenesis of RLS. Diagnostic protocols have been proposed to enhance its identification. It is of utmost importance to recognize and to treat this syndrome in order to minimize suffering of patients.
