Abstract
Retail clinics (also known as convenient care clinics) debuted in 2000 as the result of a consumer-driven mandate for easily accessible, low cost, quality healthcare. The promise was to provide quality care at convenient times and places at reasonable cost. This article provides an update on some of the changes in the industry, particularly how they affect nurse practitioners.
