Abstract
Supplemental oxygen is frequently administered to patients with respiratory and cardiac disorders to ensure adequate tissue oxygenation. Hyperoxic therapy is not innocuous. It may lead to cellular injury and disruption depending on the level and duration of exposure and on the degree to which host antioxidant defenses are depleted on superseded.
