Abstract

This article discusses commonly encountered nonneoplastic disorders of the testis, including inflammatory and developmental conditions. Cryptorchidism is a commonly encountered disorder that can result in infertiLity as well as maLignancies of the testis. We will discuss the most common sex-chromosomal disorder, Klinefelter syndrome, followed by nonneoplastic diseases such as orchitis, malakoplakia, testicular torsion and infarction, splenogonadal fusion, adrenal cortical rest, and varicocele. Developmental disorders such as testicular feminization/androgen insensitivity syndrome, gonadal dysgenesis, and hermaphroditism will also be discussed. Finally, we will go over some miscellaneous abnormaLities such as hydrocele, epididymitis, and spermatic granuloma of the epididymis.
