Abstract
Children with thyroid cancer generally have a more favorable prognosis than adults with similar histology and stage of disease. This chapter reviews data that suggest that the pattern of genetic mutations and/or gene expression in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) in children might differ from those in adults. Additional study is warranted to better define the impact of these factors on the clinical behavior of thyroid cancers in children.
