Abstract

A lung imaging fluorescence endoscope has been developed which can be used for detection and localization of early lung cancer. We0 fluorescent tumor localizing drugs to create pseudo images which can clearly delineate the diseased sites from the surrounding normal tissues. With this technique it is possible to detect early lung cancer as well as pre-cancerous lesions of one to two millimeters in diameter and only a few cell layers thick.
