Abstract

Lifestyle modification is the cornerstone to prevent atherosclerotic coronary heart disease. In this chapter, we will review the management approach of atherosclerosis from an invasive perspective to cover the key points of intervention goals, available treatment options, and the qualifying population for this sort of treatment. We will focus on diabetic population as well since their management is different than the general population. Diabetic population has higher risk for complication despite maximum therapy that may include coronary stents or coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
