Abstract

The accuracy of electrophoretic mobility (μ) determinations made by electrophoresis in gels is limited by the accuracy of the control of voltage gradient and temperature. To improve the accuracy of μ determinations during electrophoresis in horizontal slab gels, apparatuses have been built and procedures have been developed for improved control of the voltage gradient and temperature during electrophoresis. Temperature is controlled ± 0.2–0.3°C and voltage gradient is controlled ± 1–2%.
