Abstract

Careful study of more than 100 procedures followed an average of about 5 years provides the basis of the author's experience and practice. Acceptable outcomes in greater than 90% have been demonstrated. The complication rate reflects the difficulty of the pathology but remains less than 20%, with less than a 10% reoperation rate. Surgical experience and a well-designed implant are important features.
