Abstract

The effects of aging and food restriction o bone mechanical properties in a rat model in terms of microhardness, stiffness, and strength of bone are studied. Also morphometric properties of cross-section of tibia were assessed using image processing techniques. The results indicate that aging and significant effects on bone quality in rats. Such effects are primarily demonstrated by decreased energy to failure (ETF) and decreased Hv. However, morphometric properties of bone may not significantly change age.
