Abstract

Surveying the problems related to drug treatment in the elderly, the author recognizes 3 contributory factors: inappropriate drug ingestion, multiple drug prescription and poor drug compliance. As far as drug response is concerned, the authors list altered drug handling of the elderly body, altered tissue sensitivity and impaired homeostatic mechanism. In this article the whole problem is well discussed and explained.
