Abstract
Equipment for nail procedures reviewed. • It is safe to use lidocaine with epinephrine for digital blocks. • A tourniquet can be created from a glove and can be used safely for at least 30 minutes and probably up to 2 hours. • Procedures such as the partial nail plate removal with destruction of nail matrix are described. • Biopsy techniques to diagnose nail unit melanoma and other nail unit tumors are discussed in detail. • Treatment of pincer nails and onychomatricomas are described. • Guidance on how to evacuate a subungual hematoma is provided.
