Abstract

A series of investigations were conducted at the National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, India, to study the wholesomeness of irradiated wheat, and several new observations were made during the 1970's. Similar experiments conducted by other independent investigators failed to confirm the observations made in the National Institute of Nutrition. A detailed examination of the published studies revealed several potentially critical differences between all these investigations. In this paper, such differences are highlighted, and the possibility of their contribution to the differences in the final results discussed.
