Abstract

The effects of irradiation and heating on the structural and mechanical properties of cadaveric bone specimens were studied. A comparison of the collagen structure and biomechanical properties was made between the bone specimens treated by heating and irradiation. Results indicate that the heating and irradiation may lead to similar changes in the structure of the collagen network.
