Abstract

HVL measurements were made on a superficial therapy X-ray unit at 100 kVp for 0-3 mm Al added filter with a transit dosemeter to obtain good geometry conditions. From a plot of f factors versus HVL, the corresponding roentgen to rad conversion factors, f, were obtained for each added filter combination. X-ray spectra for each of the filter combinations were measured with a NaI(Tl) spectrometer system. The observed spectra were corrected for spectrometer introduced distortions using a matrix equation and a digital computer.
