Abstract

This communication presents a simple, inexpensive, and compact respirator which can be built in a few hours and at a nominal cost. The inspiratory time and the expiratory time can be adjusted independently of each other from 0. 1 sec to 10 sec. Air is supplied from any standard laboratory air line; an adjustable pressure regulator reduces the line pressure to any desirable magnitude. The unit consists of a single three-way solenoid valve, a pressure regulator, and two time-delay relays, which operate on 110 v line voltage.
