Abstract
A cDNA clone encoding bone mophogenetic protein 4 (BMP 4) has been isolated from a primary fetal rat calvarial cell cDNA library. Sequencing of this clone has revealed a single open reading frame encoding a 408 amino acid protein. Comparison of 5′ noncoding exon 1 portion of this cDNA with that of human bone and prostate BMP4 cDNA shows that BMP4 gene expression may possess tissue specificity.
