Abstract

Our preliminary experience with a silicone internal biliary endoprosthesis with a proximal Malecot design and a wide distal tip has been encouraging. The endoprosthesis has had an acceptable patency rate, and complications associated with its placement have been relatively infrequent, probably because of the ability to place the stent with its tip in the distal common duct rather than in the duodenum.
