The course and characteristics will lead the physician to the appropriate diagnosis, and knowledge of these conditions can often spare the patient an unnecessary surgical procedure and improve chances for a good outcome. For these conditions, there is no proven treatment that has any advantage over the others, so a careful approach is recommended when dealing with these rare conditions.
