Alien Limb Syndrome

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

Alien limb phenomena consists of a variety of what look like to be purposeful movements of an extremity which are performed without the owner's awareness or intention. These movements can vary based on the anatomical involvement and are generally divided into anterior and posterior variants. Alien limb mainly occurs as part of the interhemispheric impaired connectivity, hemi-inattention or cortical sensory deficits. In this article, we overview alien limb history, phenomenology and classification.
