Abstract

Air evacuation can be divided into 2 phases: transportation of the patients from site of injury to the nearest medical facility, and the later evacuation from a primary medical facility to a medical center maintaining special units for the treatment of selected acutely ill patients. Equipment and treatment necessary for efficient and safe transportation are discussed.
