Acalculous cholecystitis in burned patients

Ten cases of acalculous cholecystitis in burned patients are reviewed. The disorder appears to be associated with overwhelming bacterial invasion or other postburn complications leading to dehydration or necessitating surgery. Recommendations regarding prophylaxis and therapy are made.
