    Abstract

    Individuals in middle management positions in the twenty-first century can optimize their clinical care system through use of a leader practice framework that integrates a focus on people with an evidence-based approach to empower and energize those at the frontline of health care who deliver the care and services to patients. The interplay of the 5 functions in the Positional Leadership Framework provides a unifying road map for optimizing microsystems.
