Abstract
This study demonstrates that 5-FU can produce a positive biologic response in patients with acute leukemia. One of the 17 patients had a complete remission lasting 12 weeks. There were four partial remissions ranging from 3 to 8 weeks. All patients were heavily pretreated, having received a median of four courses of either a single agent or combination chemotherapy prior to receiving the 5-FU.
